BIOGRAPHY
Lamia Khorshid is an Egyptian born artist, educated in the United States, and is currently residing in Miami Beach, Florida. She graduated from the University of Miami with an MFA degree in Photography / Digital Imaging in 2007.
Lamia is an active exhibiting artist working in the medium of photography and video. Her most recent solo show entitled Hotel St Michel was on exhibit at Curator's Voice Art Projects in the Wynwood Arts District in November 2011. She has participated in several of the local art fairs, including Art Palm Beach, MIA, and Art Miami. Local art galleries have exhibited her work during Art Basel Miami. Her first solo show entitled Seduction opened at Deluxe Arts Gallery, Miami back in October 2006. She curated the Body Language Multi-Media Exhibition at Zones Contemporary Art Fair during Art Basel 2006, and went on to curate two more independent exhibitions in 2007 and 2009. She has participated in group exhibitions at the Miami Lowe Art Museum, The Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Photo Place Gallery in Vermont, The Autonomous Art Gallery Show during Art Basel Miami 2005, Deluxe Art Gallery's Art Basel on Edge 2006, the Miami Beach Cinematheque, the UM Project Space in Wynwood and the Miami Center for the Photographic Arts. She has presented papers at the Florida Consortium of Women's Studies Conference in Tampa in 2007 as well as MOCA at Goldman Warehouse that same year.
She opened and launched The Miami Photo Academy in 2009, offering private and small group workshops in digital photography.
Lamia Khorshid continues to create work and actively exhibit. She currently teaches photography and digital imaging at the University of Miami.
